Finding friendship and connection
Meet Phillip Minnelli, who's a regular in our Friday program. He's pictured here playing the Italian card game, Briscola.

He's been attending the group for several years now and enjoys the regular engagement with the group as a whole but in particular with clients of similar Italian heritage.

Our group has organically developed a little Italian sub-group, which we think is great, and means clients, like Phillip, can enjoy a slice of their Italian heritage, supported by staff members who are fluent in Italian.
“Balwyn Evergreen is my home away from home. I’ve been coming here for many years since my stroke.”
Phillip Minnelli, Supported Lifestyle Program client
Please note, we're a community day centre, not a locked facility. Our program coordinator will first do an assessment to see if the client is eligible for the program and that it meets their needs. If the client's needs are greater than what our staff ratios allow for, they will be required to provide a carer. This ensures the safety and enjoyment of the group.
