Creating inclusive communities this Dementia Action Week

Our group has organically developed a little Italian sub-group, which we think is great, which means clients, like Phillip, can enjoy a slice of their Italian heritage.

According to Philip, Balwyn Evergreen is his “home away from home”.

Phillip joined our Friday program after having a stroke. The social connections and considered activities ensure it’s a meaningful experience all around. Our program caters for people with mild dementia and some cognitive decline and is not only enriching for our clients but also offers respite for families and carers.

Dementia Action Week, September 16-22, 2024

This week marks Dementia Action Week, which is a time to come together and raise awareness about dementia and how we can all play a part in making our communities more inclusive and supportive.

At Balwyn Evergreen Centre, we believe in the power of education and action. Dementia affects many in our community and understanding the challenges faced by those living with dementia and their carers is the first step toward creating a more inclusive environment.

We also encourage everyone to visit Dementia Australia's website for valuable resources and information on how you can get involved this week. Together, we can make a difference.
