Transport services include transporting our clients for Centre activities, weekly shopping bus and weekly day trips.

Bus Trips

This program provides social outings for older people and people with disabilities who may be socially isolated or frail. The service provides regular bus trips that enhance the physical, intellectual and social wellbeing of participants. Outings are held on a weekly basis as advertised through a monthly newsletter. The participants of this program are required to cover costs of the outings they attend.

The Centre operates a number of mini-bus services with the support of Balwyn Rotary, the Bendigo Bank and the City of Boroondara. Here our CEO meets with members of Rotary about plans for the Centre.

Shopping Bus

We offer a shopping bus on a Monday morning for members who are unable to get out and about. The bus will pick up from your home and go to Woolworths, Balwyn; then return you home with shopping.

Balwyn Blokes

Balwyn Blokes is a group for retired men who like to get out with other socially-minded “blokes”, to see some of Melbourne & enjoy a meal together. Balwyn Blokes go out fortnightly on Thursdays to different venues, hotels and clubs around Melbourne.

ELIGIBILITY FOR SOCIAL OUTING, SHOPPING BUS AND BALWYN BLOKES PROGRAMS

These programs are either funded by the City of Boroondara and/or the Department of Health and Human Services under the Home and Community Care program so there are some eligibility criteria.

2. CENTRE DINING ROOM MEALS

Dining Room meals are provided on Wednesday, Thursday & Friday.

3. Social Support Individual

The Social Support Individual  Program is providedto elderly persons who are living alone and feel isolated. Those wishing to access this program need to apply to the CHSP program through My Aged Care.

Visits from our friendly Volunteers provide social support by engaging in conversation, assistance with their pets, and possible transport to appointments, café visits.

4. HEALTH SERVICES: PODIATRY

The services of a qualified Podiatrist are available at the Centre every Friday from 9:00am to 1:00pm. Transport is available to get you to/from the Centre.

Every Tuesday we have a physiotherapist come in from Capital Physiotherapy.

5. HEALTH SERVICES: AUDIOLOGY

The service of a qualified Audiologist is available at the Centre on the first Tuesday and Thursday of each alternate month. If you already have hearing aids, please feel free to bring them with you for a free maintenance check, clean and battery replacement.

Salon is open on the 1st Wednesday of the month from 10:00am to 3:00pm

We offer a service where staff can assist you in shopping or getting to appointments by providing transport and providing physical assistance with reliable service and a friendly person to have a chat with.
